Chibuluma
The project is located in Kalulushi about 22 km west of Kitwe. Its ore bodies include Chibuluma South (main currently active), previously Chibuluma East and West (now depleted) and the newer portal mining Chifupu extension, inaugurated in 2013. The company is located in Lufwanyama District. Metorex Limited - originally a South African the owned company - operated the mine from 1997. In 2011, Jinchuan Group, a Chinese state-owned enterprise, launched a US$1.1 billion takeover bid for Metorex, aiming to acquire all of its assets, including Chibuluma Mine.
